Bio of Band

Dennis Dove: band leader, percussionist, vocalist, and songwriter.

Dennis is a versatile musician whose journey began at age ten, playing drums live on radio and in church with his brother Myron Dove and guitarist Oliver Harris. After moving to San Jose in 1978, his band, the Tear Magnets, achieved acclaim. For 25 years, he has hosted pro-blues jams at JJ's Blues, nurtured fellow musicians, and fundraisers for disaster victims. He also participates in blues marathons and records extensively with various artists, producing outstanding CDs.

Shared the stage with notable artists including Myron Dove, Tony Lindsay, Kenny Neal, John Hooker Sr, Willie Big Eyes Smith, and many others.

with various bands including John Lee Hooker Sr., Kenny Neal, Pete Escovedo, Triumph, Ronnie Montrose, Robben Ford, Tony MacAl, and at festivals like San Jose Jazz Fest, Monterey Blues Fest, and Chicago Blues Fest.

Oliver Harris began playing guitar and singing at 12 after Myron Dove (Santana) taught him some chords. He learned popular songs from the radio and his sister's record collection performing live on radio and at church. His musical journey with jazz-rock, influenced by artists like Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock. Today, he continues to play in various bands, keeping the music alive.

Mike Pops has been immersed in music since childhood, spending his early years in a store while his mother worked. After a 20-year career in high tech, he a bass player and has been part of the Bay Area music scene for over 25 years, collaborating with renowned artists like Rusty Zinn and Charlie Musselwhite. Mike also supports fellow musicians by hosting a pro-blues jam at Murphy's Law every Monday and recording live in the studio.

Cat Guitar began playing guitar in his youth and gained fame in the blues scene with various bands. Currently, he is a member of the Terry Hanck band, touring globally. He excels in jazz,, and funk, keeping crowds dancing and energized.
